It's All About The Beam, And This One's Not Miraculous

Our builders certainly would have welcomed some miraculous help moving and installing the steel supporting beam this week. In order to open up the space to house the new toilets a supporting wall had to be removed. This wall supported the floor in the Ladies Choir room. In order to ensure that the ladies choir were not practicing in the future from the basement, having first exited through the floor, a steel beam needed installing. This beam weighs close to a tonne and needed to be manhandled from where it was delivered in Room 6, through the Cafe, through a wall and then raised to ceiling height.

Significant amounts of effort were involved but they got there in the end. The floor joists upstairs then needed attaching.

As you can see in the last pictures work has also been started on the block and beam flooring upon which the new toilet block will sit.
